Number of potentially bankrupt Russians rises 11% in 6 mos
MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- The number of potentially bankrupt Russians rose 10.9% over the last six months to 689,700 people, the National Credit History Bureau said in a statement on Tuesday.
Under the personal bankruptcy law, a person can qualify as a bankrupt if he or she has a more than 500,000 rubles in debt arrears for more than 90 days.
Economically active people, aged 30–50, account for the biggest share among the potential bankrupts: 32.5% in the 30–39 age group and 30.76% in the 40–49 group. The share of the youngest debtors declined while the share of people over 50 rose.
The average age of a debtor in risk stood at 43.2, rising by 5 years in six months.
